Holy Cross reaches out to the community by helping the organizations listed below in various ways.
Blanket Drive - Every winter Holy Cross purchases and distributes blankets to the following organizations: Lutheran Family and Children Services, Sunshine Ministries, Good Samaritan Center and Transfiguration Lutheran Church.
Grace Hill Health Cener - Grace Hill Neighborhood Health Centers, Inc. has been providing professional primary and preventive health care since 1906 through six health centers serving low income and uninsured residents in 45 census tracts throughout metropolitan St. Louis. Holy Cross supports Grace Hill Health Center by collecting mittens for families at Christmas. We call it the "Mitten Tree" project.
Lutheran Family and Children Services (LFCS) - Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri aids families, children and individuals by providing adoption, counseling, education and resources to assist with physical and emotional needs.
Serving Our Community Kids, Corp. (S.O.C.Ks.) - S.O.C.Ks furnishes socks, underwear, and shoes to homeless or children at risk through cooperating ministries of public family support organizations for the strengthening of homeless families in their effort to gain self-sufficiency. There are over twenty agencies and organizations that have benefited from this program. Member Jerry Doud founded and runs this organization and gets support from the Holy Cross youth and parents in the annual sorting, packing and personally distributing of these items to the various organization.
Transfiguration Church Food Pantry - 1807 Biddle St. in St. Louis. We support their pantry by collecting non-perishable food items and funds for purchasing perishable items. Drives are in February, May, August and November.
World Hunger - Both the adults and children at Holy Cross support the ELCA World Hunger effort. Our Sunday School kids collect coins in special World Hunger boxes and our adult members offer support in a special giving.
