Golf Outing
Saturday, June 13th

The Social Activities Committee invites you and family and friends to the Annual Holy Cross Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Four Seasons Country Club (near Woods Mill and Olive). It will be a 9-hole scramble with a cost of $23/golfer. Dinner will be at Houlihan’s at Mason and Olive after golf. Please sign up on the narthex bulletin board.


Progressive Dinner
Saturday, May 1st

SAC invites you to a MAY DAY Progressive Dinner – Saturday, May 1.  As we (finally!) progress from winter to spring, SAC invites the congregation, family and friends to a special May Day-themed Progressive Dinner!  We will have three stops throughout the evening: the first for appetizers at the home of Jan Ilewski, the second at church for a catered dinner, and the third at the home of Ray and Dorothea Botz for desserts.  We hope you and your family and friends can join us for this wonderful opportunity for fellowship!

Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre

Where:    Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre, 4426 Randall Place, St. Louis, MO 63107 (near I-70 and Grand)

What:    Murder Mystery Dinner Theater - You get to be part of the action while the detectives attempt to solve a fiendishly funny crime while you enjoy a four course dinner!  The show will be “Go With The Wind,” featuring the heroine Scarlett O’Herring and the mysterious Ratt Butler.  Forget what you saw in the movie … Help solve the mystery of who killed the foppishly flamboyantly Ashley Fru Fru!

Cost:     Our special group rate is $47.95 per person; HOWEVER, if you donate at least one canned item to the Transfiguration food drive, your cost is only $45.00!  This includes appetizers, dinner salad, choice of entrée (beef, chicken or fish served with potato and vegetable), two glasses of wine, coffee/tea and dessert.

Tickets:    TICKETS ARE LIMITED so get your ticket TODAY!  SAC members will be selling tickets today at the main bulletin board between services and after late service.


Annual Chili Dinner/Bingo
Saturday, January 30th

The Social Activities Committee invites the congregation, family and friends to our famous Chili Dinner/Bingo party on Saturday January 30, 2010.

This annual activity will be held in the church Fellowship Hall starting at 5:30pm with delicious chili, prepared by members of the Social Activities Committee. Hot dogs, salad, desserts and beverages will also be served. Dinner will be followed by an exciting game of Bingo.

Admission is $4.00 per person (flat fee of $10 for families of three or more). Each attendee is asked to bring one (1) wrapped white elephant gift. Please also bring a non-perishable food item to restock the food pantry at Transfiguration Lutheran Church. Reach out and bring your friends, neighbors and/or family to enjoy this fun evening of food and games.

Little Hills Winery

The Social Activities Committee invites you to Little Hills Winery - one of Missouri’s largest wineries - in historic St. Charles!  We will tour the winery, including caverns first occupied in 1849!  We will also enjoy French-American cuisine at The Little Hills Restaurant. For additional details and to sign up, please see the information posted on the main bulletin board.  We hope you can join us! 


Theater & Dinner

Join the Social Activities Committee (SAC) for an afternoon and evening of THEATER & DINNER as we gather at Meramec Community College to watch the production of The Boy Friend, where “the Jazz Age lives on in a romantic spoof of 1920’s musical comedy.”     The show begins at 2:00 p.m.   It is FREE, but be sure to arrive early as seating is on a “first come” basis.  Wheelchair seating is available by reservation. 

Following the show we will dine together at Amici’s Italian Restaurant in Kirkwood.   The cost for dinner is $25 per person.

Church Picnic

Sunday, June 7, 2009

The Holy Cross Family Picnic will be held Sunday, June 7th beginning at 10:00 a.m.   Corporate Site #1 has been reserved at Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park.   The second service will be held a the park, followed by afternoon of food, fellowship and fun.   The meat, buns, condiments, and paper products will be provided.   We ask each family to bring their own drinks, a dish to share, and lawn chairs.   There will be games such as softball (bring you own glove!), volleyball, horseshoes, board games, children's relays and activities, a bouncer, a fire truck for kids to examine, and more.  

Feel free to invite a friend.  Don't miss this exciting church event


Crazy Bowl

Put on some bowling shoes and join the Social Activities Committee for an evening of Crazy Bowlin' Saturday, April 18th. We will be bowling at Strike-N-Spare at Lindbergh and Schuetz.

Valentine's Day - Save the Date

Saturday, February 14th

Saturday, February 14th will be a special Valentine’s Day for Holy Cross members and family and friends as we will gather for a Valentine’s Day dinner at Granite City Food & Brewery (11411 Olive Blvd.) at 7:00 p.m. We will have a banquet style dinner in a private room with yummy food, including salad, Atlantic baked salmon, blackened chicken linguini, roasted red potatoes, vegetable medley, fresh dinner rolls, assorted desserts and unlimited refills on coffee, tea, soda or lemonade.  The price is $25 per person, which includes taxes and gratuity. Couples, singles and families all welcome! Space is limited so sign up as soon as possible on the upper entryway bulletin board.

Halloween
October 31, 2008

Halloween evening (Friday, October 31, 7:00 -10:00 p.m.) It will be a great evening of fun for kids and adults alike, including costume contests and prizes, “Trunk or Treat,” (a Trick-or-Treating activity where kids will go “trunk-to-trunk” in the church parking lot), games for all ages, yummy snacks and more! Costume dress (church appropriate, please) is strongly encouraged (but not required.) Please bring a light snack to share (cookies, chips, etc.)

7:00-7:30 – arrival, “photo ops” (bring your camera!), games/activities

7:30-8:00 – Halloween Parade and Costume Contest

8:00-8:30 – “Trunk or Treat” (if you would like to participate, bring candy to have in your trunk, and even decorate your trunk if you’d like

8:30 on – Halloween Trivia, games/activities, socializing

The annual Holy Cross Golf Outing will be held on June 14 at Four Seasons Country Club.  Tee-off is at 3:30 p.m. and is a 9-hole scramble.  There will be prizes for winning teams.   Dinner will follow at Houlihan’s Restaurant (corner of Olive and Mason).  We will have a private area and order off the menu.  The cost is $22 per player (includes cart).  Please pay for golf in advance and make check payable to Holy Cross.  Please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin board. 


Bus trip + winery tour + train trip + dinner

We are planning one of our best events of the year - an all day (11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) bus and train trip. The bus picks up passengers at Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m.

The first stop will be two wineries, (Ste. Genevieve and Chalmette) for tours and wine tasting. Following the visits to the wineries, we motor on to Jackson, Missouri and board a train for a two-hour train ride which includes a full dinner. After dinner, we again board the bus and travel back to Holy Cross. The Social Activities Committee promises a full day of entertainment, fun and fellowship. Sit back, relax and leave the driving to us!

The cost for the entire day, including the bus, train, tours and dinner is $45 per person. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Reservations and payment are required in advance.


Square Dance
March 8th
 6:30-10:00 p.m.

The Social Activities Committee is organizing a Square Dance by popular request. The last square we had was in 2005. The event will be held Saturday evening, March 8, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Holy Cross.  We have Stan Mangogna as our “caller”, who will lead us through a wonderful evening of square dancing. 

Everyone should bring a snack to share. The Social Activities Committee will provide beverages.  Dress in your casual square dance attire, but it’s recommended to wear some leather-soled shoes for swinging your partner on the carpeted floor.

The cost is $6 per person. Tickets will be on sale by the Social Activities Committee in the church hallway following Sunday services. Look for the poster and sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. 

Note: You don’t have to be a “seasoned” square dancer. This is a fun evening, for beginners and up.


Chili Bingo

The Social Activities committee invites the entire congregation, young and old to our famous Chili Dinner/Bingo party on Saturday January 26, 2008. This annual activity will be held in the church Fellowship Hall starting at 6:00 p.m. with a delicious Chili Dinner, prepared by members of the Social Activities committee. The chili dinner will also include hot dogs, salad, desserts and beverages.

Dinner will be followed by an exciting game of Bingo. Admission to this event will be $4.00 per person and one (1) wrapped white elephant gift per person. 

We are "reaching out," so bring your friends, neighbors and/or family to enjoy this fun evening of food and games. Also feel free to bring a non-perishable food item which will be used to restock the food pantry at Transfiguration Lutheran Church.
