Parenteen class

Parish Life Education is offering a Parenteen forum for our middle and high school parents. The dates are January 20, January 27 and February 10, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the new fellowship hall. Mike Prange, a counselor with the Parkway Schools and member of Holy Cross, will be leading these sessions which will be running concurrent with the X-treme Nights. Middle school students will be invited to join the senior high youth for these three weeks at X-treme Nights meetings. The following topics will be presented:

“Exploring Skills in Communicating with Our Children”

We will look at roadblocks to successful communication and how to maneuver around those barriers. The class will also consider what research shows about adolescents who are successful.

 “Keeping Your Teen Safe”

This session will cover drug/alcohol issues among teens and the topic of social networks on the Internet. We will brainstorm how to best deal with a variety of issues young people meet while growing up.

“Career and College Planning”

It is never too early to plan for life after high school. This will be an opportunity to look at what resources are available at schools. We will look at ways to help young people discover their strengths and interests.

Sessions will have plenty of time for supportive discussion with other parents.
